Connecting Global Business with China:

The Global Trading Initiative (GTI) is a student-led program at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University, built to turn China access and cross-border collaboration into practical commercial value. Our mission is to help address global challenges through products and services, while empowering the leaders behind them to turn ideas into execution.

SchwarzVault, GTI's cohort-to-cohort platform, showcases Schwarzman scholars' selected products and builds tangible international sales pathways. Additionally, it connects Schwarzman scholar-backed companies worldwide with reliable Chinese supply chain partners, while supporting international ventures engaging with China through one-stop local resource matching and operational support.

GTI Cross-Border Trading Competition

April–September 2026 From April to September 2026, the Global Trading Initiative (GTI) will run its Cross-Border Trading Competition as the core execution phase of the Spring 2026 program. Designed as a hands-on, real-world trading exercise, the competition gives teams the opportunity to move beyond discussion and test a complete cross-border business cycle in practice. Over the course of the six-month program window, each team may select any continuous two-month period to carry out its pilot. During that time, teams will be responsible for the full process of execution, including product sourcing, listing, marketing, demand generation, and order fulfillment. The competition is designed not simply as a simulation, but as a live exercise in turning ideas into measurable market outcomes.

How It Works

Each participating team will run a small-scale cross-border trading pilot with a procurement budget cap of USD 2,000. While teams may use external platforms and media channels to generate demand, all traffic must ultimately be directed to GTI’s unified, event-owned independent website. All transactions must be completed through this centralized site, allowing the organizing committee to track performance, ensure compliance, and maintain a consistent structure across teams. This framework ensures that every team operates within the same system while still allowing room for creativity in product selection, storytelling, marketing, and customer engagement.
