Culture is not abstract — it lives in people. Selwha

Selwha is a multicultural jewelry brand founded by Tsering Cirenquji (Cookie) , a Schwarzman Scholar (Cohort 8). Originating from Lhasa, it creates jewelry that carries living cultures — transforming them into quiet, wearable connections.

The project was shaped by the experience at Schwarzman Scholars, where scholars from over 100 countries live and learn together. This environment revealed a simple but lasting insight: culture is not abstract — it lives in people. Each individual is shaped by their cultural background, yet across cultures there are deeper shared values that connect rather than divide.
When these shared philosophies — those that point toward goodness and human potential — are felt and recognized, differences begin to shift. They are no longer just boundaries, but starting points for connection.

Building on this understanding, Selwha approaches culture through both product and storytelling. It begins with jewelry — translating philosophies such as the Tibetan Five Elements into contemporary design — while also creating narrative-driven content that focuses on the people behind cultures. Rather than presenting culture as symbols, Selwha explores culture as something lived, carried, and continuously expressed.

At its core, Selwha is an ongoing exploration: whether culture can be translated into products and narratives that genuinely resonate across cultures.
Looking ahead, Selwha aims to grow through the Schwarzman global alumni network. Each scholar represents a cultural node, and the project explores how these nodes can be connected — through co-developing products, sharing stories, and building cultural IP rooted in diverse traditions. In parallel, Selwha is also exploring the possibility of a culture-based interactive platform, enabling deeper participation and exchange beyond representation.

In the long run, Selwha is not only a brand, but an evolving system — one that connects culture, content, and people, moving from a single cultural origin toward multi-cultural co-creation.
